The most popular classic cars

Classic cars are unique, varied and magnificent. Retro cars today are mostly collector’s items, some examples are now extremely rare and many at the time of production were an impossible dream, being produced by the thousands or even by the dozens. However, to this day, many motorists dream of a ride on such a vintage car! In fact, retro cars are inferior to modern only in functionality, as well as to design and beauty, then even some vintage cars do not have any competitors!

Today, you can, perhaps, for a long time to argue about what kind of cars are better – old or modern. But whatever your opinion, you can’t deny the fact that cars these days have become more reliable, powerful, economical and beautiful. Nevertheless, there are some classic cars in the world that are impossible to forget. If you see these cars on the road today, you will definitely turn your head. These cars have had a great influence on the culture of automotive history and laid the foundation for future cars.

We decided today to offer you to remember the iconic old cars of the last century, which, in the opinion of car experts and ordinary car enthusiasts, look no worse than modern cars stuffed with electronics and innovations.

Classic sports car

Aston Martin DB5

Bond’s car is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the name of this car model. And for good reason. The Aston Martin DB5 made its film debut in Goldfinger, the third James Bond film starring Sean Connery. Moreover, the DB5 sports car is recognized as the most beautiful model ever produced by Aston Martin. The DB5 can also claim to be the most expensive valued car ever made in a movie. In addition, the Aston Martin DB5 is a very rare car, as in the two years that the DB5 series was in production, only 1,023 such cars were produced in total.

Jaguar E Type

The rear-wheel-drive sports car Jaguar E-Type, which became one of the car symbols of the 1960s, debuted in 1961. Unlike previous cars of the brand, it had a load-bearing body. On the American market, the model was called Jaguar XK-E. The two-seat coupe and roadster, produced at the Coventry plant, were equipped with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with 269 horsepower and four-speed “mechanics”.

Lamborghini Miura

In 1965, Lamborghini unveiled a new sports coupe in a classic Italian styling design – Miura. The car, named Lamborghini Miura P400, was built on an innovative chassis with a transversely mounted 4.0-liter 12-cylinder engine. The power unit, in turn, was rated at 350 hp. Lamborghini Miura impressed contemporaries not only with its dynamic performance but also its design. Interestingly, the development of the exterior of the sports car was handled by the legendary Marcello Gandini.

Classic Muscle cars

The United States and automobiles are almost inseparable in American history. After all, it was Henry Ford who set up and introduced the world’s first mass production of the American automotive industry. The classic American vehicle, as most people see it, is a large, comfortable sedan or a huge pickup truck. And of course, speaking of the most famous car in the vintage segment it is impossible not to mention muscle cars – sports cars equipped with powerful engines with a large volume and a large number of horsepower under the hood. Muscle cars that have been in unquestionable esteem for more than fifty years (such as the Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and others) continue to impress today with their popularity not only among gourmet collectors but also among ordinary car enthusiasts.

Ford Mustang

When the first generation Ford Mustang came out in 1964, it instantly overturned all notions of sports cars that could be driven on a daily basis. This car influenced the entire auto industry without a doubt! The Ford model Mustang was a very fashionable, powerful and most importantly fast car with a stunning design. Mustang has become synonymous with the “muscle car” era and still remains one of the most desirable and affordable sports cars in the world. The more improved version of the 1967 Ford Mustang was equipped with a 6.4-liter engine of 320 hp and a top speed of 200 km/h. The car had rear-wheel drive, and as an option could be equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission.

Chevrolet Camaro

Another legend, that is still in production today. First generation Camaros came out two years later than its competitor from Ford, but immediately won its market share and the heart of millions of fans. Attention to this sports car never fades, regardless of the year of the model’s production. Throughout the history of the company, the Camaro has been, and continues to be, Chevrolet’s most popular car and sales leader.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 version is unique in its own way. This is the rarest model in Chevrolet’s lineup – less than 70 units of the ZL-1 were produced in all, equipped with a 7-liter V8 engine and officially producing 430 horse power.

Dodge Charger

For many fans of muscle cars, it is the Dodge Charger that is the true automotive icon among other Americans. Unique makes it a specific sleek design, not for nothing after the first model in 1966 this vehicle was recognized as the most beautiful car of the decade, which she owes to a non-standard, trendy appearance. And the designers have carefully worked not only on the exterior, but also on the interior.

In 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (Road/Track) made it clear that the truck could be used both on conventional roads, as well as on race tracks. It was equipped with a special suspension, rear-wheel drive, a powerful but voracious 375 horsepower Magnum V8 engine which allows a top speed of 198 km/h! In order to understand how popular the car was, it is enough to name the figure of 96,000 Chargers sold in 1968 alone, of which 17,000 were R/T models. By the way, it was this car that was driven in the legendary Bullitt movie by no less legendary actor and race car driver Steve McQueen.

Other Vintage cars

VW Beetle

Volkswagen Beetle – one of the most popular classic car of the past, the English name of which is known to many motorists, but in Germany in 1955, this retro car was better known as the Volkswagen Käfer, which in translation exactly means “Beetle”.

To the creation of this car had his hand himself Ferdinand Porsche, already known at the time of the car designer. Moreover, it should be said that it was the Beetle that became the progenitor of the entire line of Porsche sports cars! The VW Beetle was designed for the average family, so it became almost the world’s fastest production car back then, with the basic design of the model remaining unchanged for 65 years. Now this wonderful Beetle delights with its cute shapes and brings nice nostalgic feelings.
